InterServer slice pricing: a VPS at $3 a month that stays $3
InterServer charges $3.00 a month per slice — 1 core, 2GB RAM, 40GB SSD — with the renewal price equal to the sticker price. We lay out the full slice ladder to 30 slices at $90 and compare it with teaser renewal jumps.
InterServer's slice pricing is the least glamorous and most honest model in the VPS catalogue on this site: one price, charged by the slice, month to month. A 1 Slice is 1 core, 2GB of memory, 40GB of SSD storage and 2TB of transfer for $3.00 a month — and the price does not change when you renew, because the price is the renewal price.
What a slice buys you
Every slice is one core, 2GB RAM, 40GB SSD and 2TB of transfer. Need more? Add slices. The whole ladder is a linear multiplication:
- 1 Slice — $3.00/mo
- 2 Slices — $6.00/mo
- 4 Slices (8GB RAM, 160GB SSD) — $12.00/mo
- 10 Slices (10 cores, 20GB RAM, 400GB SSD) — $30.00/mo
- 30 Slices (30 cores, 60GB RAM, 1.2TB SSD) — $90.00/mo
Storage slices sit at the same $3.00 starting point for bulk disk, and Windows slices start at $10.00 a month for 2 slices. The full ladder runs from 1 to 32 slices in both standard and storage flavours — our InterServer pricing table lists every one.
The renewal shock this avoids
Most VPS deals use a teaser: an attractive first term, then a renewal price that is a multiple of it. To take one comparator straight from our own deal database, a Starter Shared teaser plan from RackNerd bills $1.99 for the first month and renews at $9.99 — a five-fold jump. InterServer has no first term to expire. The month you join and the month three years later cost the same $3.00 per slice.
What flat pricing costs you
Flat monthly pricing is not a free lunch. Teaser plans are cheaper in year one — the RackNerd teaser's $1.99 undercuts the $3.00 slice for the first month — and many hosts reward annual commitments with a discount. If you can tolerate a renewal-price jump and know the arithmetic, a good teaser deal can work out cheaper over a fixed window. The slice model trades that optimisation for predictability: there is no spreadsheet needed to know what this server costs next year.
Who this suits
If you run long-lived services — a mail relay, a monitoring stack, a small SaaS — where the server outlives any promotional cycle, slice pricing may work out cheaper overall than paying teaser-and-renewal arithmetic forever. The full InterServer lineup covers the ladder from $3.00 to $90.00 a month, and we keep the flat-renewal comparison pages across the catalogue updated as prices move.
