The cheapest annual VPS deals in 2026: one-year plans from $7.99

One-year VPS plans from $7.99: RackNerd, CloudCone and the monthly plans that beat them on total cost. Prices checked against live deals, updated 7 October 2026.

A one-year VPS plan is the cheapest honest way to buy a small server: you pay once, the price is locked for twelve months, and there is no monthly invoice to think about. After combing the VPS deals in our table, these are the annual plans that cost the least for the first year — and the ones that cost the least overall once you stack a year of monthly billing against them.

The cheapest VPS plans charged by the year

These plans are billed once a year. The first-year price is the price, with no coupon codes needed:

| Plan | RAM | SSD | CPU | Bandwidth | First year | Renewal | |---|---|---|---|---|---|---| | RackNerd KVM 1GB – 1 Year | 1 GB | 20 GB | 1 core | 2 TB | $7.99 | $15.98/yr | | RackNerd KVM 2GB – 1 Year | 2 GB | 30 GB | 1 core | 4 TB | $11.99 | $21.98/yr | | CloudCone Micro Cloud 1GB | 1 GB | 25 GB | 1 core | 2 TB | $14.40 | $21.60/yr |

*Prices checked 7 October 2026. RackNerd plans run on Intel E5-2680 v4 cores with a 1 Gbps connection and cover US (plus EU on the 2 GB tier); the CloudCone micro plan is US-only.

How annual pricing compares with month-to-month

An annual plan is not automatically the cheapest route. If you are happy to pay twelve invoices, some monthly-priced plans come out ahead over the same year:

| Plan | RAM | Price | Billed | Cost over 12 months | |---|---|---|---|---| | Hetzner CX22 | 4 GB | $4.51/mo | monthly | $54.12 | | OVHcloud VPS Value | 2 GB | $5.00/mo | monthly | $60.00 | | BuyVM Slab 1024 | 1 GB | $7.00/mo | monthly | $84.00 | | RackNerd KVM 1GB – 1 Year | 1 GB | $7.99 | annually | $7.99 |

Nothing close to the first year on RackNerd's terms — the cheapest monthly alternative costs roughly seven times more across the year. The catch arrives on renewal, where the same RackNerd plan renews at $15.98. Even then it remains comfortably the cheapest of the set over any full cycle.

Where the money goes further: more RAM per pound

If you need specs rather than a token server, the value picture inverts. Per gigabyte of RAM, the monthly-market leaders dominate:

| Plan | RAM | Cost per year | RAM GB per year-$ | |---|---|---|---| | Netcup RS 1000 | 8 GB | $70.32 | 1.37 | | Contabo Cloud VPS 2 | 8 GB | $76.32 | 1.35 | | Hetzner CX22 | 4 GB | $54.12 | 0.93 | | RackNerd KVM 1GB – 1 Year | 1 GB | $7.99 | 1.25 |

Netcup's RS 1000 (Nuremberg) and Contabo's Cloud VPS 2 (EU, US and Asia) give you eight times the RAM of the budget annual plans for roughly double the cost — so the “cheapest” and the “best value” VPS are different questions. Our VPS deals table sorts either way.

Which one should you pick?

For a throwaway box, a VPN endpoint, a bot host or a spare staging server, RackNerd's 1 GB plan at $7.99 a year is the benchmark. If 1 GB feels tight but you still want lock-in-free annual pricing, the 2 GB tier at $11.99 doubles the memory and bandwidth for a small step up. If your workload is memory-hungry or you want EU/Asian locations, skip the annual bargain tier entirely and compare the monthly leaders — Hetzner and Netcup both offer better specs per pound.
