CrownCloud annual pricing reviewed: a 1 GB KVM VPS for $50 a year
CrownCloud's entry KVM SSD plan costs $5 a month or $50 a year - ten times the monthly rate, so annual billing saves the same two months' credit every year, not just year one. We checked every plan page live in October 2026.
Most budget hosts use the annual invoice as a trap: a teaser rate for year one, then a jump at renewal. CrownCloud does the opposite of hiding its renewal — its annual price is simply ten times the monthly rate, and it is the same figure every year. A 1 GB KVM SSD VPS is $5 a month or $50 a year, with no separate first-year rate at all. We pulled the live price data from the CrownCloud plan pages in October 2026 and matched every figure against our CrownCloud listing.
The KVM ladder, verified live
Eight SSD tiers across five locations (Los Angeles, Atlanta, Miami, Frankfurt, Amsterdam), each with an annual price set at exactly ten times the monthly rate:
- KVM SSD 1: $5/month, $50/year — 1 GB RAM, 25 GB SSD, 1 vCore, 1 TB bandwidth.
- KVM SSD 2: $10/month, $100/year — 2 GB RAM, 50 GB SSD, 2 vCores. This is the tier CrownCloud flags as its most popular.
- SSD tiers scale to 64 GB RAM and 1.6 TB SSD at $320 a month ($3,200 a year) at the top of the ladder.
- KVM Ultra 1 (Intel Ultra, Frankfurt only): $7/month, $70/year — 1 GB RAM, 30 GB NVMe.
- KVM NVMe 1 (Ryzen, Frankfurt only): $7/month, $70/year — 1 GB RAM, 30 GB NVMe, 1 vCore.
One wrinkle for US buyers: the small NVMe and Ultra tiers are Frankfurt-only. If you want NVMe-class storage on the east or west coast of America, you move up the SSD ladder or go without.
Storage VPS and bare metal: where the value sits
The storage line is the quiet headline. KVM Storage 500 pairs 500 GB of HDD storage with 640 MB of RAM, 2 vCores and 3 TB of bandwidth for $10 a month, $100 a year; the 1 TB tier is $14 a month ($140 a year) with 6 TB of bandwidth. On the annual rate that works out at roughly $1.20 per terabyte per month, which puts CrownCloud in the same bracket as the storage specialists we track in our cheapest annual VPS round-up. On the metal side, a Ryzen 9 9950X dedicated server starts at $330 a month in Ashburn, so CrownCloud sells everything from a $50-a-year VM to bare metal without changing brands.
Renewal maths: no shock, but no discount either
Because the annual price is exactly ten times the monthly price on every KVM plan, paying annually is worth precisely two months' credit — and, unlike teaser hosts, it is worth the same two months in year five as in year one. That makes CrownCloud an honest-middle option: Limitless Hosting's couponed annual KVM plans undercut it on headline price, while teaser-and-jump hosts beat it in year one and lose by year two. The second-year cost of the 1 GB plan is the same $50 — there is no second invoice to dread — but at $5 a month it is not the cheapest 1 GB KVM on our deal table.
Verdict
CrownCloud suits two buyers. The first wants one vendor to grow with, from a $50-a-year VM up to bare metal, and values a bill that never moves. The second is hunting cheap bulk HDD storage with generous bandwidth, where the storage line's per-terabyte rate earns its keep. Bargain-hunters chasing the lowest possible year-one price will find cheaper teasers on the deal table — and should only pick CrownCloud if they plan to still be there when those teasers expire.
