SmokyHosts IPv6-only VPS: $1.95 to $4.95 a month, and what giving up IPv4 saves
SmokyHosts IPv6-only VPS plans run $1.95-$4.95 a month with 10GB-80GB SSD. The IPv4 dual-stack equivalents cost $2.95-$14.95. The ladder, plan by plan.
Plenty of hosts now advertise an IPv6-only tier, but the pricing gap between it and the dual-stack version is rarely written down. SmokyHosts, which runs VPS nodes in Buffalo, Los Angeles, Tampa, Kansas City, Montreal, Roubaix, Hong Kong and Mumbai, publishes both ladders side by side — and at the bottom end, dropping IPv4 roughly halves the bill.
The IPv6-only ladder: $1.95 to $4.95 a month
The IPv6-only Mini VPS is $1.95 a month for 1 vCore, 1GB RAM and a 10GB SSD with 500GB of transfer. The Size S moves to 2 vCores, 2GB RAM and 40GB SSD for $2.95, and the Size M goes to 4GB RAM and 80GB SSD with 1TB of transfer for $4.95. Above the ladder, the storage line adds the Small IPv6 Storage VPS at $2.95 (500GB HDD), the Standard IPv6 Storage VPS at $3.95 (1GB RAM, 1TB HDD, 10TB transfer) and the Mega IPv6 Storage VPS at $15.95 (2GB RAM, 5TB HDD, 20TB transfer).
What the IPv4 version of the same server costs
The dual-stack Mini VPS is $2.95 a month — exactly $1.00 more than the IPv6-only build. Size S is $4.95 with IPv4 (Buffalo location) against $2.95 without, and Size M ranges from $8.95 in Buffalo up to $9.95 in Los Angeles and Kansas City, $11.95 in Montreal, Roubaix and Mumbai, and $14.95 in Hong Kong. So on the Size M comparison, the 80GB IPv6-only plan at $4.95 works out at about 6.2 cents per gigabyte of SSD against roughly 22.4 cents per gigabyte on the 40GB dual-stack plan in Buffalo — the cheaper ladder is also the bigger one.
The catch, and what is not published
An IPv6-only server is only usable directly from IPv6-connected networks. For everything else you rely on a NAT64/DNS64 gateway or a tunnel such as WARP to reach IPv4 destinations — workable for proxies, bots and services, awkward for serving a mainstream website. One honesty note from our data: SmokyHosts lists a single monthly price on every one of its 40 VPS products, with no renewal price published. We make no claim either way about renewal increases; the figures above are the sticker prices as listed in October 2026. If you need IPv4 as well, compare the dual-stack ladder on the SmokyHosts catalogue page or browse the full deal list. For hosts that publish their renewals explicitly, see the RackNerd flat-renewal comparison and the Netcup renewal table.
