OVHcloud renumbered its VPS line: where the Value and Advance prices went
OVHcloud has replaced its Value and Advance VPS plans with a renumbered VPS 2027 line from $4.54/month. What the old tiers cost on renewal, and how the new names map.
Big hosts reprice in two ways: quietly bump a number, or retire the plan names people learned to search for. OVHcloud has just done the second. The virtual server range on ovhcloud.com/en/vps is now branded VPS 2027, with four generically numbered plans — VPS-1 through VPS-4 — where the older Value and Advance names used to sit. If you bookmarked a price for an "Advance-2" in March, the page no longer speaks that language.
What the new lineup costs (checked 2026-10-07)
Published monthly prices on the US-market page, stated verbatim:
- VPS-1 — from $4.54/month: 2 vCores, 4 GB RAM, 40 GB NVMe SSD, 500 Mbps, unlimited traffic, daily backup of the previous 24 h included.
- VPS-2 — from $8.50/month: 4 vCores, 8 GB RAM, 75 GB NVMe SSD, 1 Gbps.
- VPS-3 — from $12.32/month: 6 vCores, 12 GB RAM, 100 GB NVMe SSD, 2 Gbps.
- VPS-4 — from $23.37/month: 8 vCores, 24 GB RAM, 200 GB NVMe SSD, 3 Gbps.
The same page now sells add-ons à la carte: premium automatic backup from $1.40/month and snapshots from $0.40/month — options that used to be bundled differently on the old Advance tiers.
What we still track on the old names
Our OVHcloud menu retains the legacy plans, with their two-tier monthly pricing:
- VLE-2 Value VPS — 1 vCPU, 2 GB RAM, 20 GB SSD — $3.40 first month, $4.20/mo on renewal (a 24% step-up, shock score 1.24).
- Advance-2 VPS — 2 vCPU, 8 GB RAM, 80 GB — $8.40 first month, $10.40/mo renewal (1.24).
- Advance-4 VPS — 4 vCPU, 16 GB RAM, 160 GB — $16.40 first month, $21.40/mo renewal (1.31, flagged "steep").
- Kimsufi KS-1 (OVH's budget arm) — Atom CPU, 4 GB RAM, 500 GB HDD — $4.00 first month, $13.50/mo renewal. That is a shock score of 3.38 — the biggest monthly jump of anything we track on OVHcloud. The Kimsufi site itself now advertises its KS range "from US$11.10", so even the entry floor has climbed well above that headline $4.
- Game Dedi EG-3 dedicated — Ryzen 5, 32 GB RAM, NVMe — $44 first month, $52/mo renewal (1.18, "fair").
Mapping old to new
On paper the new names map roughly as: VPS-1 (2 vCPU/4 GB) sits near where Advance-2's 8 GB tier started at $8.40 — but VPS-1 is cheaper with less RAM. VPS-2 (4 vCPU/8 GB, $8.50) is the closest successor to Advance-2's spec at almost the identical first-month price. The catch: "from $X/month" on the new cards behaves like every OVHcloud headline — it is the first-payment price, and OVHcloud has always renewed these plans higher. The old Advance-4 data proves the pattern at +30% after month one. Price the new range on its renewal column, not its hero figure — and check the current OVHcloud deals list, where renewal shock is the whole score.
How OVHcloud's renewals compare
OVHcloud is not the worst offender we track, only the most structural: the Contabo two-tier jump runs about 39% and HostUS's MVZ line still posts a headline monthly rate that nearly doubles on renewal. Flat-renewal counter-examples are Netcup and RackNerd (annual plans renew at the signup rate). Until OVHcloud publishes renewal numbers next to the 2027 "from" prices, assume the gap and budget for it.
